Reinhardt Hartzenberg is a Durban based photographer specialising in documentary, landscape, wedding, editorial and commercial photography.

Reinhardt grew up in the Gauteng city of Pretoria. Picking up his first camera, he had no idea that it would form such a fundamental part of his identity and philosophy on life. Being a photographer for Reinhardt is akin to being in the second grade: everyday offers an excuse to explore his fascination with people and his love for South Africa.

After completing his Masters degree in photography at the TUT he poured his energy and creativity into the establishing of an exciting venture, namely the Imaging Hub. As the Founder of non-profit organisations like the South African Journal of Photography and the African Historical Photographic Archives he has the rare privilege to interact and share ideas with a wide spectrum of international and local photographers.
From 2007-2009, Reinhardt worked as Photo Editor at Africa Media Online, offering him the opportunity and privilege to feast his eyes on many of Africa’s exceptional visual images. This exposure to Africa’s history and documentary photography has guided him in developing his sensitivity to the continent and its inhabitants and how it is portrayed in his own photography.

Reinhardt is currently working as photographer and media specialist at the Office of the Premier in KwaZulu-Natal and frequently travels the African Continent to photograph politics and social development.
